There's been further bad news for global warming skeptics. More accumulated evidence says that Earth is in an unprecedented warming period. Will this convince everyone? Of course not. Scientific consensus hasn't stopped millions of people from believing the earth is 7,000 years old, so I think we can safely say the global warming skeptics will never come around. Even if the icecaps melt and Earth's sea levels rose 300 feet they'd still claim it was a "natural event." Like it would matter by then.
And locally the global warming news is ugly too. Greenland is experiencing a rapid melting acceleration that none of the models predicted. This is a bad thing. This is why I have always said we should err on the side of caution when it comes to global warming, what if it's going to happen faster than predicted, as unforeseen feedback loops come into play? Then where will we be? Under 21 feet of water apparently.
A 21 foot rise in sea level would transcend "bad thing." A billion people would be homeless, if it happened over a short period of time the economic disruption is incalculable. Depression, famine, and war would be local or global side effects. Kinda puts the "war on terror" in perspective. Global warming may mean the death of millions, Al Qaeda might blow up a few subway cars. We need to get our threats in perspective here folks.
