Bonus Post! Evolution vs Creationism comment

with 12 comments

Well, my post about Dr Hovind’s $250k “prove Evolution” challenge got at least one impassioned response. This is kind of long, but I wanted to at least post it and provide a brief response since the author, Jim, took the trouble to write it:

Let’s stop the arguments. If evolutionists want to end them all they have to do is, get their brilliant heads together and assemble a ’simple’ living cell. This should be possible, since they certainly have a very great amount of knowledge about what is inside the ’simple’ cell, down here in 2007.

After all, shouldn’t all the combined Intelligence of all the worlds scientist be able the do what chance encounters with random chemicals, without a set of instructions, accomplished about 4 billion years ago, according to the evolutionists, having no intelligence at all available to help them along in their quest to become a living entity. Surely then the evolutionists scientists today should be able to make us a ’simple’ cell.

If it weren’t so pitiful it would be humorous, that intelligent people have swallowed the evolution mythology.

Beyond doubt, the main reason people believe in evolution is that sources they admire, say it is so. It would pay for these people to do a thorough examination of all the evidence CONTRARY to evolution that is readily available: Try answersingenesis.org. The evolutionists should honestly examine the SUPPOSED evidence ‘FOR’ evolution for THEMSELVES.

Build us a cell, from scratch, with the required raw material, that is with NO cell material, just the ‘raw’ stuff, and the argument is over. But if the scientists are unsuccessful, perhaps they should try Mother Earth’s recipe, you know, the one they claim worked the first time about 4 billion years ago, so they say. All they need to do is to gather all the chemicals that we know are essential for life, pour them into a large clay pot and stir vigorously for a few billion years, and Walla [sic], LIFE!

Oh, you don’t believe the ‘original’ Mother Earth recipe will work? You are NOT alone, Neither do I, and MILLIONS of others!

PS: Please don’t lie about the ‘first life’ problem, scientists are falling all over themselves to make a living cell. Many have admitted publicly that it is a monumental problem. And is many years away from happening, if ever. Logical people understand this problem and have rightly concluded that an Intelligent Designer was absolutely necessary. Think of it this way, if all the brilliant scientists on earth can’t do it how on earth can anyone believe that it happened by accident?????

Fortunately, there’s not much to be said in response. What does this have to do with the Theory of Evolution? Nothing. Theories of how life originated from non living matter on Earth is the science of abiogenesis. There are several theories, all with problems. Life is very complex and frankly it’s still a mystery (and may always be a mystery) how God created life from clay. (Personally, I’m a proponent of panspermia myself, I don’t think life originated on Earth.)

Aside from that, scientists are actually pretty close to creating artificial life. Some say that it is 3-10 years away. Frankly, I think 3-10 decades is more likely, it is a monumental problem. When and if scientists create life from non living matter will it prove that Jim is wrong and that life arose without God’s intervention? Of course not, God can never be removed from the picture, it’s his universe after all. All the creation of life from non living matter will do is give us deeper insight into this universe world God gave us.

Comments are always appreciated, but this is an example of a comment that was too long. Thanks for dropping by though Jim (willow422@juno.com,) God Bless!

  1. God can’t be removed from the picture? It’s his universe?Seems he’s always AWOL…why can’t he reach down and lend the people in Darfur a hand then? You believe in a merciless God, he’s an utterly hands-off kind of a guy? I’d rather place my faith in Santa Claus. I really would.

  2. I merely meant that scientifically and logically God cannot be ruled out of the equation, and that no scientific belief or theory diminishes God. As for why God doesn’t help out those in need, beats me, I’m not a theologian.

  3. Actually, I think Jim is proposing a test of Creationism, breathing life into inanimate matter.

  4. It was a huge shock back in the nineteenth century when chemists first were able to synthesize organic chemical out of inorganic chemicals. Previously it was thought there was some God endowed quality that made organic chemicals “special.” Religion quickly moved the goalposts though and claimed that “life” was special rather than just organic matter. When science creates life out of non-living matter, the religious will just move the goalposts again. There is no test that can prove or disprove God as he is currently defined.

  7. Doug,
Heve you heard of Alfred Wallace. The first scientific paper on evolution was co-authored by him and Darwin. He claimed that human beings cannot be explained by evolution. Please refer to this post for his reasons God and Science

  8. God is simply defined as a supernatural being. And by definition, “supernatural” puts him in a category that cannot be tested by empirical means. :)

  9. Yup, I agree with Unitedcats, they`ll just keep moving the goal posts. They`ll never be able to accept that we`re evolved from primordial slime since that will challenge the Patriarchal `God is my father, a bearded old gentleman sitting on a cloud` image.

Religous people will always object to a deterministic universe, without the carrot and stick of eternal bliss/eternal damnation morality will decline and we`ll descend into barbarism.

That`s why all us atheists become satanists, in their eyes. Despite the fact I can`t even remember when I last killed somebody.

  10. Headaches used to be supernatural as well. The more we learn, the less supernatural there is.

The reason God doesn’t baby-sit us is because there was a ‘war’ in heaven in which Lucifer challenged God, saying that he and the other angles only did what he said out of fear and that they did not love Him. God expelled the rebels after it was shown that they could not be convinced by God.

The whole story too long to present here, but the crux of the matter is that God must prove that humans love him and are doing as He requires, (10 commandments, etc.) out of love for Him.

If God were to rescue everyone that needed it, the masses would cling to Him for SAFETY and NOT of loving obedience.

The time is short and God is about to close the curtains. When He determines that all that would love Him have been born and that remainder will remain His enemy He will close the curtains.

Sorry this is long, I tried to make it as short as possible and still have enough info. to make a point.

    • I can’t believe what I am reading right now (in the 21st century)

So if people cannot (yet) create life out of basic elements, that is proof of God’s intelligent design. HAHAHAHA
Who put God in the equation? What God? Allah? Buddha? Who decides on these things?
In other words: If you can’t explain, it must be God, no doubt.

“Oh, you don’t believe the ‘original’ Mother Earth recipe will work? You are NOT alone, Neither do I, and MILLIONS of others!”

If I could just point out that MILLIONS of people didn’t believe the Earth was round once. Also they didn’t believe it revolves around the Sun (that’s because the almighty God HAD to put the Earth into the center of everything.) And those ignorant bastards are to blame for all the killings during the Spanish and Roman Inquisition.

“The reason God doesn’t baby-sit us is because there was a ‘war’ in heaven in which Lucifer challenged God, saying that he and the other angles only did what he said out of fear and that they did not love Him. God expelled the rebels after it was shown that they could not be convinced by God.”

How did you find out about this? Is there a “God’s children weekly” printed somewhere in heavens by God himself? Or a web page?
Or is it something a man made up?

I have also read in a book (written by a man) that 75 million years ago aliens with many aircrafts similar to boeing dc-8 bombarded the Earth and created life.

Shocks! Who should I believe now?
And also Popeye’s muscles grow huge when eating spinach….
