Gulf Oil Spill, Gaza, World War One, California Politics, and Turns Out the Creationists Were Right After All
This is going to be a somewhat hasty post since I worked a 13 hour day yesterday and have to be at work early this morning. What can I say, the boss is an evil slave driver when it comes to work. And I can say that safely on line because I am self employed, so he’s reading it as I type and he doesn’t care. Also the coffee hasn’t kicked in yet so this may get more cogent as it goes along. Or less I suppose. It’s also mostly going to be a post about upcoming posts, because I’m too tired and there’s too much blood in my caffeine stream to safely reach any conclusions.
There is another post about Gaza and Palestine coming up where I will address some of the comments made by some of the Israeli zealots on previous posts. I’m not going to waste a whole lot of time on it, because frankly, it appears that the current thinking in Israel is so closed loop and self reinforcing that no debate is possible, thus they can justify anything that Israel does. I suspect at the core of the whole mess is that Israel was founded on top of a great crime, the ethnic cleansing of 700,000 non-Jews from what is now Israel in 1948. Once you’ve convinced yourself that that didn’t happen, it’s easy to build all sorts of other logical nonsense on top of it. Personally I think Israel should try a radical new approach to living with their Arab and Palestinian neighbours: negotiation. It’s amazing how many of the world’s most intractable bloody problems have been worked out when both sides finally sit down at a table and talked. (I’m looking forward to being pilloried for suggesting a non-violent solution, go figure.)
The Deepwater oil spill is now the oil industry’s Chernobyl. A way of life for millions of people is coming to an end in the Gulf, it will be interesting to see how this develops. Will Americans finally wake up to the fact that Congress and the White House sold the American people out to corporate interests decades ago? Or will they just spray paint the beaches and swamps in nice soothing natural colours and say the problem is fixed? That, and somehow blaming the victims for their plight, I mean, we can’t actually help them out since that would be welfare, right? Stay tuned.
I’m going to be writing some more about World War One in weeks to come. It’s actually an incredibly important war, far more so than World War Two. In fact World War Two was more or less just a continuation and confirmation of the results of World War One. And both wars were actually more or less civil wars in the Great War, the one that has been going on continuously since about 1500: the European conquest of the world. Hot spots in that war today are Iraq and Afghanistan, where the brown natives are still foolishly resisting the benefits of western civilization. So a post on that war is coming up, plus a post on “What if Germany had won World War One?” Would I be typing this in German now while I snacked on a kaiser roll?
In California two ballot initiatives that were each entirely created by a single corporation to have laws changed to massively benefit themselves were just barely voted down. It’s good they were voted down, but the sad thing is that no one in their right mind should have voted for either of them, just the fact they were written and sponsored by a corporation should have been enough. Sadly, all this means is that they will come up with new initiatives and even more deceptive advertising for the next round of voting. Has anyone noticed that when the rich don’t get their way in a vote, they just keep holding votes in until they do? Yeah, that’s democracy in modern America for you.
In science news a shoe worn by Jesus has been discovered, a beehive used by Adam and Eve has been uncovered in the Holy Land, and it turns out the Earth is only 7,000 years old after all. No doubt Godless secular scientists will conspire with the liberal media to suppress these stories or censor them into something far more innocuous sounding, but once one realizes that everything is a conspiracy, it’s easy to see through their deceptions.
Have a great weekend everyone!

It’s Palestinians refugees in 1948, from a book by Israeli historian Benny Morris, who has been accused of being both pro-Palestinian and pro-Israeli. When you piss off people on both sides of an issue, you’re clearly doing something right in my book. I’m going to have to read some of his work.)
